Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the main group to begin their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the team reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them few options but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Seekers and Planners groups.
Viewers can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
